STUDENTS SERVED

For the past 3 years, our program has grown from serving 25 girls in our first year to 300 girls.

 

What started as imaginative, experimental summer programming has evolved into intentional activations year-round. Since 2021, we've expanded the horizons of the girls we serve. Empowering them through the making of beauty creations, exploring the world of luxury, and growing their self-confidence. 

In the last year, we awarded 30 scholarships to students facing financial barriers --  inviting them to The Science of Beauty Summer Camp for free.

Our partnerships have always been strategic and intentional throughout every year of operation. ​We've collaborated with Spelman College, Estée Lauder, SCAD, Neiman Marcus of Tampa, The City of Tampa, Mielle Cosmetics at Proctor & Gamble, Jo Malone, Canviiy, Sephora, Chanel, and STEM Atlanta Women.

 

Our work with organizations, industry leaders, and educational institutions have ensured that every initiative aligns with our mission to empower, equip, and inspire future STEM leaders.

Each partnership is thoughtfully curated to amplify our shared impact. Through innovative programming, access to resources, or mentorship opportunities --together, we've been able to deliver transformative experiences, while fostering a community where curiosity can flourish.

GUEST MENTORS

Black women makeup 2.2% of the U.S. workforce in STEM professional pathways. Yet annually we spend at least $8 Billion on beauty products.

While data findings might be limited to the number of Black professionals working at the intersections of STEM and beauty, they exist. 

 

Since 2021, we've been able to bring in 30 thought leaders into our classrooms. Women like Manessa Lo, Temple Leigh Lester, Dr. Ashley M. Taylor, Dr. Maxine Cain, and more, have shared their insights, experiences, and unique perspectives with our future Lab Leaders. 

Students have toured cosmetic laboratories, HBCU college campuses, luxury stores, and museums. They've also participated in experimental-making sessions, and so much more!

At The Science of Beauty, we believe in the power of hands-on learning opportunities. We know that exposure supports identity formulation, self-confidence, and well-rounded leadership development.  

While our participants mainly have experiences around the intersections of science, beauty, and innovation -- we also dive into history and personal development. Students' explorations inspire their future careers and individual aspirations.

 

Every activation broadens their horizons and fuels their passion for STEM and the beauty industry -- exposing our girls to a vast world of possibilities around them.
