Two weeks ago, our founder, Sakeya Donaldson made a powerful appearance on STEM Saturdays with NOLA NOW on FOX News. The conversation was more than just inspiring, it was affirming. Speaking directly to the hearts of young Black girls across New Orleans and beyond, she offered a hands-on demonstration of The Body Blueprint STEM Kit and made a brown sugar beauty scrub live on air.
This wasn’t just a product spotlight, an opportunity to highlight our products and programs— it was a moment of possibility.

"The foundation of The Science of Beauty was built on finding a creative and fun way to teach young girls about the everyday beauty products they use."
– Founder, Sakeya Donaldson, The Science of Beauty
Features on local news stations aren’t just publicity — they’re declarations. They boldly express how we’re challenging the norms of who belongs in science, dismantling outdated ideas about what a scientist looks like, and removing barriers that have historically kept young girls—especially girls of color—on the sidelines of STEM education. When we appear on platforms like STEM Saturdays, we're not just sharing our work; we’re staking a claim for representation, visibility, and possibility.
“There’s no linear path into Beauty,” Sakeya shared. “When I talk to women of color in STEM and Beauty, their stories and entry points differ — but we're taking the fear factor out of the sciences by introducing girls to a space they already thrive in: Beauty.”
This summer, The Science of Beauty is redefining what a science camp can be — creative, hands-on, and culturally connected.
Whether it starts with mixing a sugar scrub in your kitchen or questioning the ingredients in your favorite lip gloss, science lives in the everyday. Our STEM summer camp in New Orleans invites middle and high school girls to explore beauty through biology, chemistry, and self-discovery. It’s more than a camp — it’s a launchpad for future cosmetic chemists, innovators, and confident leaders. ✨
The future of beauty starts here.
