The Science of Beauty joins forces to inspire the next generation of innovators
At the start of this month, The Science of Beauty proudly partnered with STEM Atlanta Women, Spelman College, MyAvana Haircare, and Aunt Jackie’s to bring an unforgettable STEM Lab experience to Girl Evolve 2025—a signature program within Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts’ Woman Evolve Conference.
As a collaborative partner for The Lab – Beauty is STEM Deep, our team had the honor of guiding 75 brilliant girls, grades 6–12, through an immersive journey where science, beauty, and self-expression converged. Inside the lab, participants explored: AI in beauty tech, the power of digital footprints, product formulation/development, and the future of STEM through the lens of self-expression.

We sat down with our founder, Sakeya Donaldson, who led the Body Scrub Formulation Station where girls experienced the power of product creation and the science behind self-care. She reflected, "Whether we're in workshops, in the classroom, or even in the homes of future lab leaders, The Science of Beauty isn't just about teaching science -- we're sparking legacy."

This moment at Girl Evolve reflected the very heart of our mission. The Science of Beauty was created to introduce African American girls to the wide array of STEM opportunities at the intersections of science and beauty. Through engaging workshops, immersive programming, and hands-on learning, we guide future lab leaders on a journey of discovery—showcasing how STEM lives inside the products they love and the culture they shape.
“Our mission is to empower girls to see science not as something separate from who they are, but deeply connected to their everyday lives—from the ingredients in their favorite products to how they express themselves in the world,” Sakeya explains.
Girl Evolve 2025 was a testament to this mission in action. The room was alive with curiosity, laughter, and discovery as the girls realized their creativity and brilliance already belonged in the lab—and in every space where innovation takes root. “This is what real legacy building looks like,” Sakeya proudly remarked. “The Science of Beauty was never just about formulas—it’s about innovation and reclaiming space in every industry that shapes culture. We’re here now, just as we’ve always been.”
We are deeply thankful to Dr. Maxine Cain and STEM Atlanta for inviting us to be part of such a visionary moment and for allowing us to pour into the next generation of industry leaders.
To every girl who walked into our space: you are the future of innovation. All that lives inside you is proof of the powerful combination of faith and empowerment to shape communities—and ultimately, to create something greater than we could have ever imagined.
